Neighborhood divided over controversial bed and breakfast permit

In a recent government meeting, the city planning commission reviewed a request for a conditional use permit for a bed and breakfast located in a single-family structure. The applicant plans to utilize only three of the five bedrooms for guests, while the remaining two will be occupied by the property owner, aligning with the city’s standards. The commission had previously heard this request on April 23, where it received unanimous support without any public opposition.

However, the discussion took a turn when local business owner Desiree Bayamonte voiced her strong opposition to the permit. Bayamonte, who operates a business nearby, expressed concerns over recent loud events held without permits, which she described as disruptive to the neighborhood. She criticized the owners' attitude during a prior meeting, highlighting a lack of consideration for community standards and the potential negative impact on the area’s quality of life.
