Fire department secures major grants for critical upgrades

During a recent government meeting, officials expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the Patony Foundation, which has provided significant funding to local emergency services. This year, the foundation awarded a grant of $98,396.30 to the fire department and $37,821.67 to the police department, continuing a tradition of generous contributions that have included essential equipment over the years.

The discussions highlighted the importance of these funds, which are not part of the regular budget and alleviate the financial burden on taxpayers. Officials noted that the foundation has consistently reached out to inquire about the departments' needs, demonstrating a commitment to community safety and support.

In addition to the grant announcements, the fire department reported a recent personnel change. Chief Cresta confirmed the appointment of Jonathan Marquis as lieutenant, following the departure of Lieutenant Sean Lamontagne. Marquis, who has experience as a lieutenant in Epping and has been part-time with the department, is now transitioning to a full-time role.

The meeting concluded with a call for additional firefighters, emphasizing the ongoing need for personnel in the department. Overall, the discussions underscored the collaborative efforts between local government and community organizations to enhance public safety services.
