Middle School Athletes Break Records and Win Championships

In a recent government meeting, local middle and high school athletic teams were recognized for their outstanding achievements in track and field and soccer. Coaches and athletes from various schools presented highlights from their seasons, celebrating numerous records and accolades.

The 7th grade girls track team was particularly lauded for winning districts, with twelve athletes contributing to their success across multiple events. Notable individual performances included a district all-time record in the 100 meters by a 7th grade boy, who finished in 11.84 seconds, and a 4x100 meter relay team that set a district record of 50.74 seconds. The 8th grade girls also made headlines with a new district record in the 200 meters, clocking in at 25.38 seconds, and a long jump record of 16 feet 5 inches.

Beadle Middle School's boys track team, under the guidance of coaches Samantha Holt and Erica Dettinger, celebrated an undefeated season, scoring 110 points at the district meet. Their 8th grade team excelled as well, setting five new school records and scoring 208 points, significantly outpacing their competitors.

In soccer, Millard West's girls team showcased two standout players, Kennedy Moore and Alyssa French, both of whom received multiple all-state honors. Coach Jackie Tevis Butler praised their dedication and leadership on and off the field. Similarly, Millard South's boys soccer coach Nate Rogge highlighted Sam Steudt's achievements, including first team all-state recognition, while Millard North's coach Sandro Deangelis commended Carter Wibusch for his competitive spirit and academic excellence.

The meeting underscored the importance of community support, with coaches expressing gratitude to families and school boards for their contributions to the athletes' successes. The recognition of these young athletes not only celebrates their individual talents but also emphasizes the values of teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship that they embody.
