Students lead the charge to boost school athletics

During a recent government meeting, student athletes from Douglas High School showcased their commitment to leadership and community engagement. Representing the school's Student Leadership Council, these athletes emphasized the importance of prioritizing academics alongside athletics, with a mantra of \"students first, athletics second.\"

The selection process for these representatives is rigorous, based on criteria such as GPA, leadership qualities, and recommendations from coaches and community members. Each sport is represented by two athletes, ensuring a diverse and inclusive leadership team.

Kayla Villascoosa, a representative from the girls' soccer team, and Dominique Munoz from the softball team, shared insights into their initiatives.
