Housing advocates demand urgent action to combat crisis

Jim Warshaw, a former advocate for both development and preservation, echoed Smith's sentiments, advocating for a balanced approach that includes both new construction and the preservation of existing structures. Warshaw also called for the completion of a long-overdue survey of historical resources to streamline the development process and avoid costly delays.

Christopher Roche, a principal at Studio Vara, expressed support for the measures discussed, reinforcing the need for collaborative efforts to address housing challenges. The meeting underscored a growing consensus among advocates that immediate action is necessary to address the housing crisis and ensure that San Francisco remains accessible to all residents.
