Community rallies to plant 100 trees for local park

During a recent government meeting, members discussed significant developments in local environmental initiatives, particularly the Cloos Garden Club's successful installation of a drip irrigation system, which has improved the health of their garden and new trees. The club expressed gratitude for the support received, especially during Arbor Day celebrations.

The meeting also highlighted a generous donation from local residents John and Brenda McClain, who offered to contribute 100 trees to be planted around Mackle Park Lake. This initiative aims to enhance shade for park visitors and improve the area’s aesthetics. City officials, including representatives from the Naples Botanical Gardens, are collaborating to create a site plan for the tree placement, focusing on species that will provide both shade and color to benefit local wildlife.

In addition to the tree planting, discussions included the importance of irrigation during the initial growth period. Suggestions were made to implement temporary irrigation solutions, such as using a water tank vehicle or pumping water from the lake, to ensure the trees establish successfully.

The meeting concluded with optimism about the upcoming planting efforts, with plans to proceed as soon as the site plan is approved.
