Funding crisis threatens major broadband project in Kentucky

During a recent government meeting, Zalbert, the director of SafeMoon Affairs for Spectrum, addressed concerns regarding the rescindment of $490,000 in ARPA funds previously allocated to a broadband project in Spencer County, Kentucky. The funds, initially approved by a prior administration, were revoked by the court, raising alarms about the project's future.

Zalbert explained that the project aims to provide internet services to approximately 1,261 homes in the county, with the permitting phase currently underway. He emphasized the importance of the funding, which is part of a larger commitment that includes a $3.78 million contribution from Charter and a total state grant amount of around $2.5 million.

The director expressed his worries about the implications of the funding loss, stating that the rescindment could jeopardize the project's progress and the community's access to essential broadband services.
