Community hero honored with prestigious Star Award

During a recent city council meeting, community member Michael Yelich was honored with the prestigious Star TULSA award for his outstanding contributions to the city. The award was presented by Councilor Lakin, who highlighted Yelich's commitment to philanthropy and community service, particularly through his work at Mattress Firm.

Yelich was recognized for his numerous charitable efforts, including providing mattresses for the new Eden Village, a tiny home community for the chronically homeless, and donating mattresses to domestic violence shelters. His initiatives also include honoring local heroes with discounts at his stores and partnering with local charities to support various causes.

The council meeting began with an invocation led by John Huffine, who prayed for the well-being of the mayor, council members, and the community. The atmosphere was celebratory as attendees gathered to support Yelich, who was described as a person with a generous spirit and a genuine love for his fellow citizens.
