Residents demand answers on Boyd Road upgrades and water issues

Residents voiced significant concerns during a recent government meeting regarding the potential upgrade of Boyd Road to a residential collector road. One local resident, Galloway, highlighted the road's current use as an informal sidewalk by families in the area, emphasizing the need for a dedicated sidewalk to enhance safety and accessibility for pedestrians. Galloway urged developers to consider this addition in their plans, citing the high traffic and the lack of public spaces for families.

Another resident, Lou Fritz, raised issues about water pressure in the area, which has reportedly halved since the Mountain Glory subdivision was established. Fritz expressed frustration over the lack of clear communication regarding water availability, especially with the prospect of an additional 56 houses being built. Officials suggested that residents contact the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) for further information on water issues.

The meeting also touched on traffic concerns, with questions about whether the speed limit on Boyd Road would change if it were designated as a residential collector road. While the current speed limit is 20 miles per hour, officials acknowledged that compliance with speed limits is often poor in the area.
