Major grant boosts renovation of historic Shea theater

During a recent government meeting, officials discussed significant updates regarding local infrastructure and environmental management. Notably, the former Shea Theater building on Main Street received a substantial grant of $500,000, which was met with enthusiasm from attendees.

In addition to building developments, Water Pollution Control Assistant Superintendent Verzella provided an update on the department's activities. Maintenance Foreman Carl Saint Angelo successfully passed the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency's Class One Waste Water Operator certification. This achievement underscores the department's commitment to maintaining high standards in water management.

Preventative maintenance and tank cleaning operations are currently in progress, ensuring the facility's compliance with environmental regulations. The annual discharge monitoring report and quality assurance checks for the water pollution lab are also underway, as mandated by the EPA. These evaluations confirm the accuracy of the in-house testing facility, which is assessed by an accredited testing provider. A facility toxicity analysis was completed during the week of June 10 to 14, further ensuring the integrity of local water quality management efforts.
