Pacific Oaks plans massive industrial project amid community concerns

In a recent government meeting, discussions centered around the proposed Pacific Oaks Commerce Center, a significant industrial project by Pacific Industrial, which aims to construct a 2,000,000 square foot facility. The meeting featured input from various stakeholders, including local property owners and representatives from Pacific Industrial.

Commissioner engagement was highlighted, with one member noting their due diligence in reaching out to local businesses, specifically a pumpkin patch, to understand the potential impacts of the zoning changes associated with the project. Concerns were raised regarding the implications of a new agritourism designation on existing businesses, particularly regarding split zoning and how it would affect their operations.

Terry Allen, representing Pacific Industrial, provided a detailed presentation on the project, including traffic projections. The proposed facility is expected to generate approximately 739 truck trips per day, with 378 of those being semi-truck movements. Allen clarified that these figures represent total daily traffic, accounting for both inbound and outbound trips, although the exact number of trucks could vary depending on future tenants and their distribution needs.
