Community demands action after e-bike accident injuries

During a recent government meeting in Aliso Viejo, a resident voiced urgent concerns regarding safety issues related to electric bike usage on local trails. The individual, who suffered serious injuries including four broken ribs and a hematoma, criticized the lack of enforcement of existing laws governing e-bike operation. They highlighted that the 15-year-old rider involved in the incident was not required to carry insurance, leaving them with limited recourse for their injuries. The resident called for immediate action from city officials to address what they described as a significant traffic risk and a hazard to public safety.

The meeting also included a request from another community member, Carrie Campbell, who proposed the addition of pickleball courts to the city’s budget. She suggested potential locations for the courts, emphasizing the need for recreational facilities that do not disturb residential areas. The council acknowledged her suggestions and advised her to connect with the Aliso Viejo Community Association, which manages most local parks.
