North Hollywood High School Science Team Dominates National Competition

In a recent government meeting, North Hollywood High School's science teams were celebrated for their remarkable achievements in the LADWP's Regional Science Bowl and the National Science Bowl. Since their participation began in 1993, the school has won the regional title 25 times, establishing a record of dominance that has made them a formidable competitor in the Los Angeles area.

This year, North Hollywood High School's team not only secured the regional championship but also excelled at the national level, finishing in second place among high schools across the United States. The National Science Bowl, organized by the U.S. Department of Energy, is a rigorous academic competition that tests students in various fields of math and science. Over its history, more than 340,000 students have participated, with 9,000 high school students competing this year alone.

The school's principal, Ricardo Rosales, and coach, Alter Main, expressed pride in their students' accomplishments, highlighting the teamwork and dedication that led to their success. The meeting also recognized Walter Zisel, a long-time leader at LADWP, for his role in sponsoring the regional competition, which has benefited thousands of students.

The event showcased not only the achievements of the North Hollywood team but also the collaborative efforts of educators, sponsors, and the community in fostering a culture of excellence in science and mathematics.
