Residents demand urgent action on hazardous drainage issues

Residents of the Ashenwood subdivision voiced urgent concerns regarding the deteriorating condition of a drainage area during a recent government meeting. The drainage basin, located at 7866 Ashenwoods Drive, has become a significant hazard, with fallen trees and a damaged fence posing risks to local residents, including children and pets.

Ryan Ripsalman, a resident of Ashenwood, highlighted the potential flooding issues stemming from the neglected drainage area, which he described as an eyesore for those living nearby. He urged city officials to take action, suggesting that the city should notify the property owners to address the cleanup or, if they fail to act, for the city to intervene and bill the owners for the work.

Srinivas Kotekal, another resident, echoed these concerns, noting that the property has been poorly maintained and is now a liability. He pointed out that the ownership of the property is unclear, as the previous managing entity, Ashen Woods LLC, has been dissolved, complicating efforts to hold anyone accountable for the maintenance.

City officials, including the city manager, acknowledged that this was the first time they had been made aware of the situation. They confirmed that a letter had already been sent to the property owners and promised to provide updates to the concerned residents in the coming days.

The meeting underscored the community's frustration over the lack of clarity regarding property ownership and maintenance responsibilities, as well as the urgent need for action to ensure the safety and well-being of Ashenwood residents.
