Community Celebrates Successful Juneteenth Event and New Mural

During a recent government meeting, Trustee Kunkel highlighted the success of the community's Juneteenth event, which received significant recognition from various state and local officials. The Illinois Department of Public Health issued a commemorative statement signed by Governor Pritzker, while State Representative Fred Crespo and Cook County Commissioner Kevin Morrison also provided proclamations acknowledging the event.

Kunkel expressed gratitude for the positive feedback from attendees and noted the event's successful transition to a new venue, despite ongoing adjustments to optimize its use. He commended the public works department for their early setup efforts and acknowledged the support from the fire department, police department, and Hanover Township community services, which helped ensure safety and smooth traffic management.

Additionally, Kunkel praised the newly unveiled mural that served as a backdrop for the event, crediting Village Manager Juliana for leading the art project. The mural received numerous compliments from attendees, enhancing the event's atmosphere.
