County faces steep health insurance rate hike amid rising claims

The presentation highlighted that the county's current provider, Florida Government Healthcare Solutions Consortium, offers a rate cap that protects against extreme increases, unlike other providers that were approached. Despite exploring options from Florida Blue, Capital Health Plans, Cigna, and Aetna, the recommendations leaned towards maintaining the current provider due to the potential for higher out-of-pocket costs and network disruptions with alternative plans.
