Caveman Triathlon set to return with new bike route

During a recent government meeting, the approval for the Caveman Triathlon, organized by Dallas Athletes Racing Incorporated, was discussed. The event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the Community Activity Center in Girault Park. David Powell, the CAC manager, presented the request, highlighting that the triathlon would start early enough to avoid interfering with regular CAC operations.

Powell noted that the event has been a staple at the CAC since 2009, with participation numbers typically ranging from 500 to 650 athletes. He mentioned that the triathlon generates approximately $1,105 in revenue for the center, contributing to its financial goals. The event's structure has seen some changes, particularly in the bike route, which has been modified to enhance safety. The previous two-loop route has been replaced with a three-loop course, which Powell acknowledged could be challenging for some participants.

In addition to the triathlon, a 5K race was introduced last year, attracting 135 participants out of a total of 561. This addition has proven popular, and organizers plan to continue offering the 5K in future events.

The meeting concluded with a positive outlook on the triathlon's organization and execution, with no significant changes anticipated for the upcoming year. The approval process is now pending further review by the relevant authorities.
