New ice cream shop set to sweeten local community

During a recent government meeting, officials provided updates on various community projects and initiatives. Mayor expressed gratitude towards citizens, civic organizations, and businesses for their generous contributions to the Fourth of July fireworks display, which is anticipated to be the largest in the city's history.

The Director of Public Services reported the completion of a street resurfacing project, with adjustments to manholes and berm installation planned for the coming weeks. Additionally, the Washington Klein Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Sewer Project is progressing well, while the Saint Mary's Improvement Project is set to commence on Monday, which will temporarily close the area to through traffic, although local access will remain for businesses.

In zoning matters, it was announced that plans for a new commercial establishment at 78 Bendick Ave, the site of a former gas station, have been approved. The new venture will feature a small ice cream shop offering light lunch options and coffee, complete with a drive-through and outdoor seating. Construction is expected to begin by the end of the month, although an opening date has yet to be confirmed.

Lastly, concerns were raised by a city official regarding ongoing complaints from residents on Menard, indicating a need for further attention to community issues.
