City Council set to approve ambitious economic development strategy

In a recent city council meeting, officials discussed the adoption of a comprehensive economic development strategy aimed at fostering job creation, redevelopment, and economic diversification. City Manager highlighted the extensive work that has gone into the strategy, which has been in development for several months, following a review by the Economic Development Housing and Project Management Committee.

The strategy, which is part of the council's priority work plan for 2023, has undergone a thorough public review process lasting 30 days. Charles Ching, the Director of Economic Development, Housing, and Sustainability, expressed enthusiasm about presenting the final draft of the plan, noting that it is the first of its kind in many years. He emphasized the importance of this strategy as a pivotal step for the city's economic future.

Roger Dale from the consulting firm Nattlesundale Group, which collaborated with the city on the strategy, was also present to provide insights into the plan's development. The council is now poised to formally adopt the resolution, allowing staff to move forward with implementation steps that will advance the proposed programs and policies. This initiative marks a significant milestone in the city's efforts to enhance its economic landscape.
