City council tackles trail access and celebrates Juneteenth

During the recent city council meeting, Council Member Boccioli addressed ongoing concerns from residents regarding the completion of the Little Lockers Creek trail. He highlighted issues with the Atherton development, where the Homeowners Association has not granted permission for a bridge necessary to finalize a segment of the trail. Boccioli expressed optimism as he noted that Chris Gioni is actively working with stakeholders to resolve these issues and enhance trail accessibility.

Boccioli also mentioned upcoming plans for the northern and southern ends of the trail, connecting Trellino to Spring and Silvera Lake to Santa Teresa, respectively. He is scheduled to meet this Friday to discuss updates on Anderson Dam, which he believes is crucial for future planning.

In addition to trail discussions, Boccioli shared insights from his attendance at the library commission, where an automated handling system for books was approved, promising to streamline library operations.

City Manager Christina provided a brief report, recognizing Juneteenth as a significant day commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. She emphasized its importance as a symbol of African American freedom, marking the announcement made by Major General Gordon Granger on June 19, 1865. Christina also mentioned the police department's ongoing involvement in the law enforcement torch run, a tradition that highlights community engagement and support.
