City proposes ambitious 32 acre park master plan

In a recent Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) meeting, officials approved the minutes from the previous session and moved swiftly into new business, focusing on a proposed master plan for a 32-acre park. The plan, presented by Terrell, outlines a comprehensive recreational space designed to accommodate a variety of sports and community activities.

Key features of the proposed park include two full-size soccer fields, three basketball courts, three softball fields, and one full-size baseball field. Notably, the majority of these fields are planned to be constructed with artificial turf, which is expected to reduce maintenance costs and allow for year-round use without the typical wear and tear associated with natural grass. One soccer field will remain as natural turf to facilitate events such as food truck gatherings, which are not suitable for artificial surfaces.

In addition to sports facilities, the master plan also incorporates a splash pad and a playground, aiming to enhance community engagement and provide recreational opportunities for families. The proposal is currently seeking input and approval from the CRA board, marking a significant step towards the development of this community asset.
