Roadwork projects set to transform local infrastructure

In a recent government meeting, officials discussed the status of several road projects, highlighting significant budget increases and project timelines. The cost for the Hankison Road project has escalated from an estimated $800,000 two years ago to $1.2 million today. The project has been awarded, and a pre-construction conference is scheduled for later this month. TL Wallace has been confirmed as the contractor for this state aid project.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the Oil Mill Road, Rodney Road, and Sawmill Road overlays, which are also part of the state aid initiatives. However, the Trace Hill project remains uninitiated, with no votes from the board to advance it. It was noted that Trace Hill is included in the county road plan, which was adopted in previous meetings, but implementation will depend on future planning.

Officials acknowledged the pressing need for road repairs, emphasizing that while many projects are on the agenda, reimbursement delays have hindered progress. Recent reimbursements have been received, but they fall short of covering the total costs associated with the road repairs. The board remains committed to completing the outlined projects within the current term, with a focus on addressing the most urgent infrastructure needs.
