Experts warn of mental health crisis among youth

He referenced the book \"The Anxious Generation,\" which discusses how the rise of smartphones and social media has contributed to an epidemic of mental illness among young people.

Hewitt pointed out that the number of major depressive events among girls has tripled since 2010, attributing this increase to the pervasive influence of technology. He argued that the introduction of the iPhone and platforms like Instagram has led to increased social isolation and negative online interactions, which he believes are detrimental to children's mental health. He urged the board to consider the evidence presented in the book, suggesting that the correlation between technology use and mental health issues is a matter of causation rather than mere coincidence.

In a separate address, Gina Cole emphasized the importance of nutrition and parental rights in education. She expressed her commitment to advocating for transparency in school curricula and financial accountability, underscoring the need for community engagement in these matters.
