Deputy honored for lifesaving actions in cardiac arrest rescue

In a recent government meeting, Lyon County Sheriff Brad Vogt presented Deputy Benjamin Beck with the Lifesaving Award, recognizing his critical role in a life-saving emergency response. Deputy Beck, who joined the Lyon County Sheriff's Office in November 2023, was commended for his quick actions during a 911 call on May 2, 2024, where he performed chest compressions on a male subject who had collapsed and was unconscious.

Upon arrival, the Central Lyon Fire Department found Deputy Beck actively administering CPR. The patient was confirmed to be in cardiac arrest, and emergency medical personnel took over, providing advanced care that included IV medications and airway interventions. Thanks to Deputy Beck's timely intervention, the patient regained a pulse and was transported to Carson Tahoe Hospital, where he showed signs of recovery and was expected to leave the hospital shortly.

Following this commendation, the meeting shifted focus to a proposal from the Nevada Public Agency Insurance Pool (NPAIP). Commissioners discussed the acceptance of a renewal proposal and the approval for repayment from fiscal year 2024 to 2025 funds. A&H Insurance representative Bridal Pierce introduced key members of the NPAIP team, emphasizing the program's long-standing history since its establishment in 1987, with Lyon County being one of its founding members. The meeting highlighted the county's strong representation within the insurance pool, ensuring effective management and support for local municipalities.
