Burlington High School celebrates record AP exam success

Burlington High School has reported impressive results from its Advanced Placement (AP) exams, with 83% of the 231 students who took 412 exams scoring a 3 or higher, qualifying them for college credit. This achievement surpasses the school's goal of 75%, marking a significant milestone for the students and staff involved in the preparation.

In addition to academic successes, the Karcher cupboard initiative, aimed at providing essential resources such as food, clothing, and hygiene products to students, raised $5,500 through a recent golf fundraiser involving over 50 participants. This program is designed to support students in need, ensuring they have access to necessary items both at school and at home.

On the facilities front, significant renovations are underway at Cooper School, funded by a generous $185,000 donation from Rhonda Sullivan. The project includes asbestos abatement, wall removals, and updates to the library, with new carpeting set to be installed by July 22. These improvements aim to enhance the environment for the Montessori program.

At Burlington High School, renovations are also taking place in the kitchen survey area, funded through a dedicated food service account. This project aims to improve the flow and aesthetics of the area where students pick up their meals. Additionally, a new kitchen water heater is being installed, and the Dyer gym has received a fresh coat of paint, funded by leftover PTO money.

To ensure safety for the newly relocated 4K students at Dyer, a playground fence installation has commenced, utilizing the school’s capital budget. This initiative reflects the district's commitment to providing a secure environment for its youngest learners.
