Residents demand action on neglected alleys and traffic chaos

One resident from 47th Street expressed frustration over the lack of upkeep in city-owned alleys, which have become overgrown and problematic. Despite efforts to maintain the area, the resident noted that complaints made through the city’s 311 service often go unanswered, leaving them feeling unheard and unsupported. They emphasized the need for better communication and follow-up from city services, questioning whether adequate resources are allocated for neighborhood patrols and enforcement of existing regulations.

Another speaker, Terry Daniels from Fayette Avenue, raised alarms about traffic safety on their street, which has become a thoroughfare for speeding vehicles. Daniels requested inclusion in a traffic calming initiative, referencing a recent proposal for funding aimed at addressing such issues. They also reported ongoing difficulties with sidewalk repairs, having waited three years for action on a previously submitted request.
