Walk Against Hunger raises record $191000 for community support

During a recent government meeting, Michelle Casale, manager of the Walk Against Hunger for Families in Transition, presented a significant update on the annual fundraising event. This year, the walk achieved a record-breaking total of $191,000, which is crucial for funding essential services such as food, shelter, and support for those in need within the community.

Casale highlighted the vital role of the Manchester School District in this success, noting that 163 staff members, along with their families and friends, participated in the event. Their collective efforts raised an impressive $94,100, which will provide over 35,100 meals to individuals served by Families in Transition.

The meeting also recognized the contributions of various teams, with awards presented for outstanding fundraising efforts. West High School, led by team captain Josh Wilson, was acknowledged for raising the most money, totaling $1,836. The enthusiasm and leadership displayed by the school district's team captain, Leslie Won, were commended for galvanizing participation from 14 different school teams.

This event not only underscores the community's commitment to combating hunger but also highlights the collaborative spirit among local organizations and schools in addressing critical social issues.
