Officers honored for heroic life saving actions

Three officers from the Renton Police Department were honored with life-saving medals during a recent ceremony, recognizing their heroic actions in two critical incidents.

Officer Cody Littleton received the award for his swift response to a cardiac emergency at a local workout facility. When a man collapsed during a basketball game, Littleton quickly assessed the situation, began administering CPR, and directed bystanders to retrieve an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). His timely intervention revived the patient, who regained consciousness before being transported to the hospital. The department highlighted that without Littleton's decisive actions, the individual would likely have succumbed to his cardiac event.

Officers Jake Weber and Noah Guarillo were also awarded for their response to a shooting incident on February 27, 2024, at the Cedar River dog park. Upon arriving at the scene, they found a victim struggling to breathe but initially showed no visible injuries. Recognizing the potential danger, they conducted a thorough examination and discovered a gunshot wound. The officers provided immediate trauma care, sealing the wound and transporting the victim through difficult terrain to ensure he received advanced medical treatment. Medical professionals later confirmed that their actions significantly improved the victim's prognosis, who had sustained severe injuries including a collapsed lung and spinal cord damage.

The life-saving medals were presented in acknowledgment of the officers' exceptional service, valor, and commitment to the mission of the Renton Police Department.
