Hurricane season intensifies as officials prepare for impact

In a recent government meeting, officials discussed critical preparations for the ongoing hurricane season, which is projected to be particularly active. The conversation highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts among various agencies to ensure public safety during potential evacuations.

Commissioner Fred emphasized that Baldwin County will not allow residents to return until they receive confirmation from damage assessment teams that it is safe to do so. The meeting also included a motion to approve a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) involving multiple agencies, including Liberty County, Baldwin County, the Georgia Department of Human Services, the Georgia Department of Public Health, the American Red Cross of Georgia, and the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency. This agreement is intended to streamline collaboration and response efforts in the face of potential disasters.
