County champions celebrate historic sweep at state contest

The Commissioner's Court convened on June 10th, with all members present, to discuss various agenda items, including departmental updates and community achievements.

Commissioner Wenham received gratitude for his assistance in assessing the condition of a historic oak tree alongside arborist Bruce Kreidler. The meeting highlighted significant accomplishments from local 4-H teams, with one team achieving state championships in junior, intermediate, and senior categories, marking a historic clean sweep for Callahan County. The senior team is set to compete at the national level in Texas later this July.

In addition to the state contest success, the meeting noted the participation of eight local students at the recent state roundup, where they excelled in various competitions. Notable achievements included fifth place in photography and sixth in mohair, with individual accolades for students in wildlife challenges and educational presentations.

The court also addressed procedural matters, including the review and approval of minutes from the previous meeting and the consent agenda, which included the approval of bills and payroll. No public comments were made during the session, and the court proceeded with its agenda efficiently.
