Council approves crucial utility upgrades before hurricane season

During a recent government meeting, officials approved a significant estimate for utility work on North State Street. The board unanimously agreed to allocate $9,400 to S and L Services for boring and excavation to install an underground electrical conduit. This project aims to relocate utilities running in front of the courthouse, particularly through the oak trees, enhancing both safety and aesthetics in the area.

In other discussions, the meeting addressed the installation of a generator for the Shell project, which is expected to be expedited due to the impending hurricane season. Engineer Gene reported that efforts are underway to ensure the generator is operational, allowing for the simultaneous operation of both stations during emergencies. However, there were concerns regarding the testing of the line, with updates pending as Gene had been out of the office.
