Residents demand action to address dangerous street conditions

Residents of Valmore Street have raised significant concerns regarding safety and traffic issues in their neighborhood during a recent government meeting. A local resident, accompanied by neighbors and spouse Chloe, presented a petition highlighting multiple problems stemming from increased traffic and ongoing construction in the area.

Valmore Street, identified as a public road that serves as a cut-through between Sunderland and County Street, has seen a rise in speeding vehicles, particularly at a steep hill that poses visibility challenges. The resident recounted a near-collision experience, emphasizing the dangers posed by both speeding and increased on-street parking, which has become more prevalent due to construction activities.

The construction is linked to a new development project that will introduce 11 new dwellings to the area, with concerns that this will exacerbate parking issues, as many vehicles are already occupying the limited street space.
