David triumphs in sports after life-changing surgery

During a recent board meeting, significant strides in inclusion within District 88 were highlighted, particularly at Willowbrook High School. The discussion, led by a long-time educator, emphasized the advancements made over the past 18 years, attributing much of the success to the efforts of Athletic Director Ed Sullivan.

This year marked a notable achievement in the realm of inclusion, with Special Olympics athletes receiving scholarships and participating in various events, including a home track meet organized by dedicated staff. The educator praised the collaborative efforts that have fostered a supportive environment for all students, particularly those with disabilities.

A standout moment of the meeting was the recognition of David Wolf, a junior and three-sport athlete who recently overcame significant health challenges. After undergoing foot surgery, David not only returned to athletics but excelled, qualifying for both basketball and track events. His remarkable performance in the 50-meter run, clocking in at 8.78 seconds, was celebrated as a testament to his determination and resilience.

The meeting concluded with a heartfelt acknowledgment of David's achievements, as he participated in a track meet at Illinois State University, accompanied by family and coaches.
