Bridgeport honors community hero for Fourth of July legacy

Known as the \"heart and soul\" of Bridgeport, Pemberton has been a fixture at the Jolly Cone restaurant, where she not only serves customers but also actively contributes to local initiatives.

Pemberton's commitment to the community is particularly evident in her role as president of the Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce and her tireless efforts to organize the town's Fourth of July celebrations. The event, recognized as the oldest continuous parade in the continental United States, has thrived under her leadership, even during challenging times such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

The resolution presented by the Board highlighted Pemberton's deep roots in Bridgeport, tracing her family's history back to the establishment of the first store in the area and the introduction of telephone services.
