Preston Rodeo Announces Exciting Changes and Record Contestants

During a recent government meeting, significant updates were announced regarding the upcoming Preston Night Rodeo, scheduled for August 1 and 2 at 8:30 PM. Chris Beckstead, a board member of the rodeo, shared key changes, including a new parade start time of 6:00 PM each night. With tickets nearly sold out and a record number of contestants expected, the event promises to be a highlight of the summer.

A special slack performance will take place on Wednesday night at 7:00 PM, allowing contestants who do not qualify for the main events to showcase their skills. The carnival is also set to run that evening, contingent on weather conditions. Attendees can look forward to a variety of food options, including rodeo burgers from local service clubs and a food court at the arena, catering to the anticipated crowd of nearly 7,000 each night. Additionally, an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast will be held on rodeo Saturday from 6:30 to 11:00 AM at the Preston City Park Pavilion, priced at $8 per person or $40 for families.

In other discussions, updates on the wastewater treatment plant were provided, with a walkthrough scheduled for August 16. Attendees are encouraged to wear hard hats and high-visibility vests during the visit. The city is also awaiting the results of a child pedestrian safety grant, which will be announced in December, while preparations for a lighting grant are underway.
