Homeowners battle decade-long flooding crisis in subdivision

Homeowners in a small subdivision behind the cemetery on Scenic Highway are voicing their frustrations over persistent flooding issues that have plagued their community for a decade. The homeowners association, representing 65 houses, has reported significant damage to property and infrastructure due to inadequate drainage solutions.

Residents highlighted that heavy rainfall, similar to recent storms in South Florida, poses a serious risk of flooding to their homes. The flooding has been exacerbated by the accumulation of dirt in a nearby park, which has altered the land's natural drainage patterns. This has resulted in water runoff that threatens the integrity of fences and homes in the area.

Despite years of complaints, the only mitigation effort has been the installation of a plastic berm, which has since been vandalized and has proven ineffective in controlling water flow. Homeowners are calling for immediate action to address the flooding, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive solution to protect their properties from future damage.
