Camp Program Set to Expand Amid Community Demand

During a recent government meeting, officials discussed the operational plans for a summer camp at Princeton Day School, highlighting its anticipated growth and community engagement. The camp is set to accommodate 80 campers daily this summer, with plans to expand to 150 in future years, reflecting a strong demand within the community.

The camp will maintain a staff-to-camper ratio compliant with New Jersey regulations, ensuring safety and adequate supervision. Currently, there are 15 staff members on payroll, including substitutes, with projections indicating a need for up to 25 counselors if the camp reaches its maximum capacity.

Communication protocols between the camp and Princeton Day School were emphasized as crucial for operational efficiency, particularly during drop-off and pick-up times. The camp will utilize walkie-talkies for real-time communication with school administrators to manage any potential emergencies or logistical issues.

The meeting also addressed the camp's integration with existing school operations, noting that even at peak enrollment, the total number of campers on site would remain below 400, allowing for manageable traffic and supervision.

In addition to operational details, the camp's commitment to community support was outlined. The program offers financial aid, backup care, and scholarship days to ensure accessibility for families in need. Notably, 100% of families who applied for financial aid this year were approved, demonstrating the camp's dedication to inclusivity.
