Shooting champion unveils innovative indoor range plans

A government meeting recently highlighted an ambitious plan for a new indoor shooting range facility in Wyoming, aimed at promoting shooting sports while maintaining cost efficiency. The proposal, presented by a multi-time world and national shooting champion, outlines a comprehensive facility that will cater to various shooting disciplines and community programs.

The proposed indoor range will be situated at the local event center and will feature a spacious layout of 125 feet by 100 feet. Key components of the facility include a 25-lane, 20-meter archery range designed to support local archers, particularly during winter months. Additionally, a 15-lane air rifle range will accommodate Olympic-level events, providing a venue for both air pistol and air rifle competitions.

A unique aspect of the plan is the inclusion of a small bore area, which will allow for various shooting courses and local competitions, enhancing the community's engagement with shooting sports. The facility will also feature 25 flexible pistol bays, designed to accommodate a range of shooting activities, from shotgun sports to three-gun events, with the added benefit of using native soil for berm construction.

One of the most innovative elements of the proposal is the \"tactical shooting adventure,\" a concept likened to tactical golf. This area will offer a 3/4 mile loop with 18 to 20 stations featuring reactive targets, making it suitable for team events and family activities. This initiative aims to attract a diverse audience, including military and law enforcement groups, while fostering community involvement in shooting sports.
