Riverside LGBTQ Pride celebrates growth and community support

During a recent city council meeting, Ray Yu, president of Riverside LGBTQ Pride, expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from city officials, including council members and Mayor Dawson. Yu highlighted the growth of the organization, noting that what began as a small picnic three years ago has evolved into a significant festival that attracted over 4,000 attendees last year at the Convention Center.

Yu emphasized the importance of community collaboration in organizing events that uplift the LGBTQ community and promote Riverside as an inclusive city. He announced plans for the next festival, scheduled for May 2025, which will be held at White Park in downtown Riverside, aiming to create a welcoming atmosphere for all residents and visitors.

The council acknowledged Yu's contributions and expressed excitement for future collaborations. Following this discussion, the council moved on to the consent calendar, with no changes requested by the city manager, leading to a swift approval of the agenda items.
