During a recent government meeting, the Papillion City Council addressed several key items, including amendments to zoning regulations and a resolution for property acquisition.
The council discussed an ordinance aimed at amending Article 23 of the Papillion Municipal Code, which pertains to regulations for residential development and open space within planned unit development (PUD) overlay districts. The ordinance, referred to as Ordinance 2024, was presented by the city and received unanimous approval from the council, with a vote of 7-0.
Additionally, the council approved Resolution R240129, which involves an assignment and assumption agreement with Invest CRE for the purchase of property located at 105 East 4th Street. This resolution also passed with a 7-0 vote, indicating strong support among council members.
In a separate discussion, the ad hoc committee focused on the golf course fence ordinance convened to review community concerns regarding fencing regulations for properties adjacent to local golf courses. The committee, composed of four council members representing residents near the golf courses, engaged in an informative discussion about the current ordinance and the feedback received from constituents. No definitive decisions were made; however, the committee agreed to conduct a survey of approximately 286 residents living adjacent to one of the golf courses to gauge support for a proposed ban on all types of fencing on these properties. The results of the survey will inform future discussions and any potential recommendations to the council, which would then undergo a full public review process.
The council's actions reflect ongoing efforts to engage with the community and streamline development processes while addressing resident concerns. Further updates are expected following the survey results and subsequent committee meetings.
