Legislators push urgent measures to combat opioid crisis

The county legislature convened for its work session on July 25, 2024, to discuss a range of agenda items ahead of the formal session scheduled for noon. The meeting, led by Legislator Vaino, included the Pledge of Allegiance by Legislator Tadaro and the appointment of a new representative for Legislative District 1.

Legislator Fardnasey introduced Local Law Intro 5-2, which will be directed to the Government Affairs Committee for further consideration. Legislator Gilmore also provided updates on the Public Safety Committee (Meeting No. 12) and the Health and Human Services Committee (Meeting No. 9), confirming that all reports were ready for discussion.

Among the resolutions slated for approval is Intro 14-1, co-sponsored by Legislators Kishoin and Gilmore, which aims to support state legislation addressing the ongoing opioid overdose epidemic.
