Plans unveiled to revitalize historic Aviles Street

During a recent government meeting, discussions centered around enhancing the aesthetic and historical appeal of Aviles Street in preparation for an upcoming festival in September. Officials highlighted the need for improvements to the entry corridor leading to the street, noting that it could benefit from a thorough cleaning and revitalization effort.

Collaborating with local merchants, the initiative aims to spruce up the area ahead of the festival, which will welcome a delegation from Aviles, Spain. The meeting underscored the importance of this event, as it will feature 10 to 12 representatives from the Spanish city, fostering cultural exchange and community ties.

In addition to immediate beautification efforts, there are plans for long-term enhancements, including the installation of interpretive signage to share the historical significance of the area. For the upcoming festival, officials expressed a desire to install two interpretive markers that will accompany a mosaic, providing context and enriching the visitor experience.
