During a recent government meeting, officials provided an update on the ongoing construction of a new school facility, highlighting significant progress and remaining challenges. The construction team reported that the south side of the building is now fully enclosed, with the front office nearing completion and cabinet work underway.
Key areas of the school are at various stages of completion: the second floor of Section C is approximately 85% finished, while the first floor is around 75% complete. Essential installations, including ceiling grids and lighting, have been finalized in most classrooms, and flooring has been laid down. The kitchen is fully equipped and ready for startup, pending a seven-day cooling period for refrigeration units before a county inspection can occur.
City inspectors are scheduled to visit the site on Monday, and a comprehensive list of tasks has been provided to the construction team to ensure readiness for occupancy. Despite recent weather challenges, paving work is expected to be completed soon, and preparations for the playground area are in progress.
Officials emphasized that while the school will not be fully completed by the start of the academic year, critical safety measures will be prioritized to accommodate students. A total of 18 classrooms must be operational to meet the needs of the incoming student body. The construction team is focused on addressing the checklist provided by city officials to ensure compliance and safety standards are met before the school opens.
