Summertime violence claims lives in Texas and Michigan

The gunman reportedly took his own life following the attack, which police described as appearing random. Investigators noted that the suspect had a history of mental health issues.

In international news, Russian state media reported that security forces stormed a detention center in southern Russia after inmates took two guards hostage. Some of the inmates were allegedly linked to the Islamic State, and local reports indicated that several prisoners were killed during the incident. This marks the second deadly attack in Russia this year associated with the extremist group, following a March attack that claimed 145 lives at a concert hall in suburban Moscow.

Additionally, an oil spill at one of Singapore's renowned beaches has raised significant environmental and economic concerns. The spill occurred when a Dutch-flagged dredger collided with a stationary Singaporean fuel supply ship, leading to oil being pushed ashore by ocean currents. Parts of the popular resort island of Sentosa have been closed as cleanup efforts continue.
