Gilpin County enacts fire restrictions amid wildfire concerns

In a recent government meeting, officials discussed the implementation of temporary Stage 1 fire restrictions in Gilpin County, prompted by heightened wildfire risks. Chief Greg Demoe and Sheriff Kevin Pompstraw presented the resolution, emphasizing the need for community preparedness following a recent fire incident that raised alarms among residents.

Sheriff Pompstraw explained that while Gilpin County is enacting these restrictions, neighboring Larimer County has opted not to due to differing moisture levels.

These initiatives aim to ensure that resources are readily available for firefighting efforts, especially as the region faces increasing wildfire threats exacerbated by dry conditions.
