As of the end of May, the city has reported a significant financial update, revealing that 91% of the fiscal year 2023-2024 has elapsed. The general fund revenues have reached $17.6 million, aligning perfectly with the elapsed time frame and marking a 6% increase compared to the same period last year.
Key highlights from the financial report include the receipt of the city's second annual remittance of property tax in lieu of vehicle license fees, amounting to approximately $3 million. This brings the total revenue from this source to about $6.6 million for the year, surpassing budget expectations with property tax collections now at 102.9% of the budgeted amount.
In addition to property tax, other revenue sources such as licenses and permits, fines and forfeitures, intergovernmental funds, and charges for services have also exceeded their budgeted projections. On the expenditure side, 77.5% of the general fund's budgeted operating expenditures have been realized, a slight decrease from 80% at the same time last fiscal year.
The financial presentation concluded without any questions from the attendees, indicating a clear understanding and acceptance of the current fiscal status.
