City plans major road expansions to boost economic growth

During a recent government meeting, officials discussed a series of infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing connectivity and supporting economic growth in the region. The meeting highlighted ten key projects included in the city's thoroughfare plan, which are strategically located in areas projected for future development.

One of the primary projects discussed is the expansion of Baghdad Road from Kettering Drive to the northern city limits. This initiative, part of the Wilco bond project, aims to transform the road into a primary arterial route, providing an essential north-south connection alongside existing routes like Highway 183. Additionally, County Road 280 is set to be realigned to improve access for new neighborhoods in the area, complementing the Baghdad Road expansion.

San Gabriel Parkway East was also a focal point, with plans to install a traffic signal to enhance safety and accessibility, particularly near the Titan project. The discussion included the importance of creating safe routes to schools, with Raider Way being identified as a critical link for pedestrian access, thereby reducing vehicular traffic around educational institutions.

Further, the meeting addressed the need for improved east-west connectivity, particularly along RM 2243, which is expected to undergo significant upgrades. The completion of Hero Way by the county is anticipated to facilitate this development, allowing RM 2243 to function more effectively as a thoroughfare.

Lakeline Boulevard was noted as a vital north-south corridor, with ongoing development on the west side of town necessitating enhancements to manage increased traffic flow. Officials acknowledged the challenges posed by existing neighborhoods that may limit expansion efforts south of Hero Way.
