New home proposal sparks debate in Warren Township

In a recent government meeting, officials discussed a petition for a new dwelling on a 3-acre parcel of class 2 soils located in Warren Township, as part of a larger 333-acre property owned by the Carroll Trust. The proposed home, which will be approximately 2,000 square feet with a three-car garage, is intended for Tom Carroll, who currently resides across the street with his family and operates a daycare from their existing home.

The meeting highlighted the zoning classification of the area as Ag Resource Conservation, which allows for such developments. The new home will be built on a site that meets the required setbacks from Wilson Frontage Road, with plans for a septic system and secondary drain field already identified.

The township has expressed support for the petition, having signed an acknowledgment form on May 6th. The existing home on the farmstead is slated for removal upon completion of the new construction, allowing the Carroll family to transition to their new residence while continuing their agricultural activities on the property. The discussions underscored the importance of local zoning regulations and community support in facilitating residential development within agricultural zones.
