Courthouse renovation progresses with stunning updates

During a recent government meeting, Cole Adkins provided an update on the ongoing courthouse renovation project, highlighting significant progress and current budget status. The project's contingency fund currently stands at $79,112, with adjustments pending due to an oversight regarding spray foam insulation costs.

Adkins reported that the courtroom flooring has been completed and looks exceptional. Preparations are underway for the first floor, including sanding and touch-up painting, with several rooms still requiring final coats. The installation of millwork, including wainscoting and door casings, is nearing completion, although delays have occurred due to additional materials needed.

Refurbished office doors were delivered to the site, with installation expected next week. Additionally, the installation of acoustical ceiling tiles in various areas has been finalized. The spray foam insulation in the attic and fireproofing of the elevator shaft have also been completed.

Electrical work has commenced, with fixtures being installed, although floor boxes on the first floor will be deferred to minimize dust exposure. Adkins expressed enthusiasm for the project, particularly the refurbishment of furniture from the old courthouse, and looks forward to hosting an open house to showcase the renovations to the public.
