Community unites for impactful park and bird sanctuary project

During a recent government meeting, members of Leadership Brentwood presented updates on community projects that exemplify local engagement and collaboration. One notable initiative involved the development of a mountain bike trail, which was supported by a significant donation of tools from Tractor Supply Company. The project raised over $5,000, which was allocated for signage, future maintenance, and support for Eagle Scout projects, including a directional kiosk for Smith Park.

Another project highlighted was the establishment of a certified bird sanctuary at the 50 Forward Martin Center. Team 247, consisting of seven members, worked to create an inviting environment for local bird species by planting specific trees and installing bird feeders and a birdbath. They expressed hopes for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and additional fundraising to benefit the center.

Mayor Gorton acknowledged the longstanding impact of Leadership Brentwood, which was founded in 1988, emphasizing the value the city receives from its modest annual contributions to the group. The meeting also celebrated the Brentwood Lacrosse team, who were recognized for their recent state championship victory, showcasing the community's spirit and achievements.
